Race Waiver

All participants acknowledge and accept the following Rules of Participation to when registering and competing in the event.
I, the undersigned, in consideration of and as a condition of acceptance of my entry in the cycle event for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators hereby waive any claim, right of claim, cause of any action which I or they might have arising out of loss of my life or injury, damage or loss of any description whatsoever which I may suffer or sustain in the course or consequent upon my entry or participation in the event.
I know that participating in such an event is a potentially hazardous activity. I assume all risks associated with running in this event, including but not limited to falls, contact with other participants, the effects of weather, traffic and the conditions of the road/sea/water/trail, all such risks being known and appreciated by me.
This waiver, release and discharge shall be and operate separately in favor of all persons, corporations and bodies involved with or otherwise engaged in promoting or staging the event and the servants, agents, representatives and officers of any of them. I satisfy all entry requirements as set out.
I attest that I am physically fit and medically able to complete part or the entirety of the course without jeopardizing my health or life and consent to receive medical treatment that may be advisable in the event of illness or injuries suffered by me during this event.
I give free permission for the free use of my name, voice or picture in any broadcast, telecast, advertising promotion or other account of this event.
Should the event be cancelled for any reason whatsoever I understand that entry fees will not be refunded and that no liability of any kind will attach to any person, corporation or body involved in connection with the event.
I agree to abide by the conditions of the event as stated in the declaration above and upon literature and other material distributed in connection with the event.
The event organizer reserves the right to reject any entry, and further reserves the right to change the details of the above referenced event without prior notice.
1. Participant acknowledges a cycling helmet must be worn during the event, furthermore participant warrants that their helmet is commercially produced and meets, either ANSI Z90/4 or Snell standards. Participant acknowledges the organizers recommend the wearing of gloves.
2. Participant warrants they are older than 16 years on the day of the Event. Special dispensation may be applied for in writing to the Race Office.
3. Participants agree to obey the instructions of the traffic officers and marshals and comply strictly with the rules of the road, save where authorized by traffic officers and marshals. Participants agree to keep to the side of the road and to remain on the sections of the road demarcated for them. Participants may be required to stop at certain intersections.
4. Only conventional bicycles and conventional tandems may be ridden. BMX bicycles and tandems with disc or covered wheels are deemed to be conventional. Bicycles and tandems with fairing or attachments to improve airflow, supine recumbent, extended bicycles, tricycles, machines known as human powered vehicles (HPVs) and other similar machines are deemed to be unconventional and are not permitted to enter without the express permission of the organizers. Special dispensation may be applied for in writing to the Race Office.
5. Bicycles, tandems and other machines fitted with unconventional handlebars including triathlon-bars, aero bars, clip-ons, prayer-bars, turned-up-bars and cow-bars are not permitted in any category. ATB bar-ends are permitted on Mountain Bikes.
6. Any participant who is in any doubt whether his bicycle, tandem or machine may be ridden in the event and, if so, in which category, is advised to contact the organizers well beforehand.
7. Premier Timing is the official timing partner to the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge 2010 and will supply each participant with a ChampionChip timing chip (either rented or purchased). Only ChampionChip Chips are accepted and only if the Chip Code is registered on your Premier Marathons Profile / Manual Registration Form at the time of registering. No Chip, No Time, No Prize.
8. Only cyclists with a valid cycling license either UCI UAE Cycle Federation or UCI international license will be permitted to start in the Elite Start Zones. Only licensed racing groups will be competing for prize money and all MUST wear a Premier Timing Chip to be eligible for a result and prize money. No Chip, No Time, No Prize. No protest will be entertained in this regard. The size of all these groups will be limited and original licenses must be available for view at race pack collection and on race day. Photocopies, scanned copies and any other non-original documents will be rejected. Race organizers are not responsible for the collection and return of licenses. All licensed riders are to abide by Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge 2010 and UCI UAE Cycle Federation rules and regulations.
9. The Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge 2010 seeding is done to ensure a safe event and to place cyclists with others against whom they can compete enjoyably. Cyclists who believe they have been incorrectly seeded may apply for re-seeding. Re-seeding may be done at the sole discretion of the organizers who will require proof of ability in the form of results. A re-seeding fee is payable if results used are not from the qualifying events. A cyclist may not start in a group with a better seeding, but may move down to a slower group without being penalized. Cyclists starting ahead of their official start group will be disqualified. No protest will be entertained in this regard. The last time/day for re-seeding applications is 12pm midday, 6 December 2010
10. Participants must complete the course entirely under their own power and slip streaming/drafting any vehicle or motorbike is prohibited.
11. No participant may cause or allow any motorized or human powered machine, other than that of another participant, to follow or second him/her.
12. Only the official licensed racing categories will be allowed support vehicles on route. Support vehicles must be accredited by the organizers, Dubai Sports Council and the UAE Cycle Federation. Non accredited vehicles will be removed from the route. Support vehicles MUST drive with the safety of all cyclists, marshals and route support vehicles as a priority. Failure to do so will result in the racing team they are supporting being disqualified.
13. The routes will be as supplied and participants must familiarize themselves with the route they are riding. The organizers reserve the right to alter the routes in accordance with safety, traffic, construction or other constraints. No protest relating to deviation will be entertained.
14. The organizers may, at their discretion, decline an entry from anyone who is under suspension or has been banned by any sports controlling body for having used illegal drugs or any other substances; refuse to allow anyone to participate in the race where good grounds exist for such a refusal.
