“Great venue to host the race. Only thing that I felt let the event down was venue staff having no knowledge of the event in terms of where to go for registration etcetera. I wondered around within the track for over an hour on my own before I eventually stumbled across the registration area.”
“The event was one of the best I have ever been to. However, the negatives were only being able to collect race numbers etc on the Thurs or well before on the day (I work in Bahrain!), and no race certificates available on line. I don't know if they were printing after the race - if they were there was no signage. But while I could get my time on line, no printout to be had in certificate format. However, much better than the Dubai 10k as real runners taking part - danger is it will change next year as more turn up.....”
“The registration process needs to be improved as people were kept waiting for quite some time - queuing system wasn't very good. Otherwise it was a very well organised event and thoroughly enjoyed by many people. I'm certainly looking forward to next year's run!”
“What happened to the net time? And a Certificate for participating? First time since I started running races, that I can't see my " real result" Otherwise a very nice event!!!”
“Great parking, exciting venue for race, great atmosphere. Very positive first race experience. Would like to have seen net time rather than gross time published on results.”
“The race results appear to be by clock time, not chip time, which defeats the point of having a chip. Results should be by individual chip time.”
“A really super family event - from the race village full of activities for kids to the atmosphere at the start. My kids took part in the 1km and my husband inthe 10km and it was great to watch them start and finish. The boys loved their shirts and medals and had a great day - they don't do athletics as such at school - so this was great for them to take part in a PROPER race. Well done organisers - your hard work appreciated and well done ADNIC you choose a great event to be involved in.”
“There seemed to be a lot of people short cutting the corners on the wrong side of temporary barriers. I diligently kept to the track but lost places to those who short cutted. These corners were not marshalled. Using the most economical line without short cutting I measured the route at 10.19km although this was supposed to be a 'certifed' 10km. I'm confused as to why the big difference. ”
“This event was really professional and well organized. Only one thing I should like to comment on - It would be of great help, if we had known, were to go to and when to show up, when entering the course. Let us know that in the info you send out and let there be signs showing where to show up - where to enter the gate to the course. My son was in the 1K, and a lot of kids came VERY late. We were there early, because we wanted to find out how to get to the course. It was our first visit to the Yas Marina Formula One. But a fantastic race - will definitely return next year - and big applause that you also have races for the kids;-))”
“Every single aspect - expected or unexpected - was flawless to the T. There was a delight factor in every small detail - as basic as locker facility, to the crowd handling, ambience, overall energy at the event, the course... Ecstatic to have participated! And I've spread the good word so far and wide on FB & through word of mouth, I am expecting a big turn out amongst my friends from within & outside of UAE. More power to you organizers!!”
“Was an absolute pleasure to run this race. The course amazing. Looking forward to next years race. Thanks for a job well done in organising this event. ”
“Poor registration procedure (in my case, anyway)”
“it would have been nice for spectators to be a bit closer to the action - for the spectators and the runners. it's a bit lonely once you leave the main spectator area!”
“The ambience was great, the music was amazing, the spectators were really supportive, welcoming was great, during the race event having first aid teams every where, the only drawback i found in the finish line where the people in the Time Relay race were mixed with the ones in the 10km run and there wasn't anyone to guide us around in the finish line, with random youngsters giving out medals and business cards! This ruined the finishing of the race, yet the crowd was spectacular. Over all it was a wonderful event am glad i was part of. ”
“Wish I'd gone home rather than wait for the prize giving - what about age groups - no explanation from organisers, just a I'll see you next year...”
“Distance signage on the course could have been better displayed, to better tell you your distance traveled whether you were on the first lap or second lap. Apart from that, it was a great event.”
“Running by night on Yas Marina circuit was amaizing ... see you next year.”
“what a great event! thanks to all the fan support...”
“The only thing i have really marked down is registration, the online part was fine, but registering at the venue was exhausting, no orderly queue, people pushing in, not sure what I was supposed to be doing etc... I also wasn't given a medal at the end, but one of your very kind volunteers found one for me. The staff and volunteers at the event were excellent, can't praise them enough. From the people at the bag check in, to the supporters cheering on the track, to the guys handing out water, they were all brilliant. The venue was amazing, absolutely loved running the F1 track. If I lived closer to the venue I would definately participate again. ”
“the Asphalat was quiet hard Bad quality of give away, The Bib number on Cartoon was very low quality, it fel down as soon as it catched some water on the first station. But the experience was nice and fun, had a good time... ”
“All was perfect and I enjoyed it. Thank you.”
“1.It was start to a great event , running on the F1 track which had an excellent variation. Great running experience. Organinzers did a wonderful work for the first edition of the Yas ADNIC run. They deserve fullest compliments. 2. The good part was including all the kids for the 1k and 3k, which was an amazing way to get kids into long distance running. 3. Transport, like or a shuttle bus (paid) to and from Abu Dhabi would be great for outstation participants like me. 4. Need more drinks (especially sports drinkds like Gatorade, Lucozade) and food variety 5. My bib gave way after 20 mins due to sweat and I wasted 2 mins and odd trying to fix it. The Quality of the bibs to be improved big time (like the one used in Standard Chartered Dubai marathon).”
“improvements: 1. Water cups too large - suggest small bottles of water or smaller cups 2. Podium for the winners presentations should be built up higher so we can all see the action! 3. Certificates or prizes for age group runners in the10K (had for children but not adults). This will encourgae more people to stay for the presentations as well!”
“walkers need to be kept out of the way especially at the start”
“Errors in timing - showed disqualified, even though we crossed each marker and finished the race. Missed out on recording splits and final race time. Many people shown disqualified, so must have been a system problem, but no quick feedback from organizers.”
“Really well orgainised. Really enjoyable event!”
“Very good event, generally v.well organized, iconic race course, great pasta meal. Improvement areas :- please use standard paper/plastic numbers, the cardboard numbers didnt survive and didnt flex very well. No published net times. Have the waiver online, organize the lines at little better at online registration. The Water stop Coca Cola cups worked well and the water stops were well organized and efficient - good job volunteers!”
“on the t-shirt , written : " abu dhabi yas run 2011 " is better for me thx!!!!”
“well organised, lots of positives only constructive criticism would be: the huge coke cups of water being handed out at some of the water stations... not easy to drink or run with one of these full of water the number of people participating without proper clothing... i saw a guy in jeans, another wearing shoes / loafers... and they were in the front 3-4 rows of people ! I agree that anyone should be able to take part, but for those who are trying to improve on their times and have trained hard for the event, these people simply present an obstacle It would have been netter if you'd sent the race packs out in advance, we had to arrive 2 hours before the race to collect which meant a lot of time hanging around. ”
“The course was up & down”
“I had to arrive very early for the 10k in order to pick up my race pack before 4.30pm. Ideally would have liked to been able to pick up the pack later or on another day and venue apart from Yas. It's difficult if you live in Dubai unless you can get somebody else who works nearer to Yas to pick up the pack for you but at the moment you have to collect the pack in person (although I can understand the reason for this). Would have liked a water station at the top of the steeeep hill coming from the pit at beginning of the second lap!!! Also, would have liked to have seen the hill marked on the track map so it didn't come as such a surprise!! Directions to the car park were good (but we got lost on leaving, p'hps our fault!!), parking facilities were ample, a bit of a wait for the prize giving but not too bad. Generally a really enjoyable inaugural event and one which I think will become even more popular especially due to its venue. Thanks alot!”
“Need to have more energy drinks, food available in preparation for runners.”
“Difficulty with support points was that runners were throwing cups and bottles everywhere, perhaps having rows of bins set up along both sides would encourage proper disposal and this would benefit everyone.”
“ Bibs with numbers very poor quality, ripped when wet. I ended up carrying mine as it kept tearing each time I pinned it on. Overall, a very enjoyable and challenging race. Lots of water stops and good on course instructions re race route. The any volunteers contributed to success. Should try to encourage more spectators to attend. ”
“My son and I enjoyed the event and race, thanks to the organizers. Just a couple of thoughts for next year: Good plan for the elite & preferred start runners - pity the rope guys did'nt know it! Perhaps more explanation up front about how chip timing works for the less experienced runners would have helped - bit messy with one front runner going down - could have been nasty. Also it would be better to publish net times instead of the Gross times. Lots of corner cutting on the course - more marshals would have helped, but the race briefing was difficult to hear for the track - heard the kids briefing great from the stands. The "stay on the black" message obviously did not get through. The bibs were terrible - bit of sweat and they fell apart - use the Premier Marathon bibs! Cold pasta is not my idea of an after race snack - a banana, chocky bar and one of those magic ice lollies they gave out after the Striders half would have been much better. See you next year!”
“There should have been a race for below 18 years also ”
“wonderful location I enjoyed, thanks some suggestions: being wet is very cold at the end, provide cover or new tshirt and hot beverages pasta after race was ice cold... would be nice to have some energy bars at the 5km do not mix relayers with runners, they broke the pace but all in all it was a great experience, thanks again fausto”
“Being able to run on the race circuit was excellant and a fantastic experience. Registration was a disaster despite asking for ID on confirmation email this was never requested and waiver would be useless for ADNIC as never checked. There was no process to ensure you collected a T shirt and bag - I found these by luck!!!! More toilets available would have been useful. Great PA system for the spectators but with the screens in the grandstand and a buggy out on the track some live photos fed back would have been good. ”
“Improvement in the registration procedures and info on the course could be provided. Proper signposts for reaching the venue and also to the Start of the track would be useful. Overall, the run was enjoyable and well conducted.”
“Only real criticism of the event was the poor quality of the race number cards. There were many littering the course. They seemed to disintegrate, particularly around the pin holes, when they got wet with sweat. ”
“Well organised, brilliant promotion and the result was an excellent turnout and thus great event. Only criticism is that banner flags along finish line obscured vision from the stands. But otherwise - really well run! Thanks a lot”
“The course is fantastic - hills, smooth, well lit and safe from SUV trying to mow you down!! One improvement could be having guide times signs for the starting chute - a lot of people were walking or jogging very slowly unnecessarily at the start after the start line - hard to get around them. Possibility for collisions, embarrassment and injury. ”
“what a fantastic opportunity to run the F1 track. A great run, wish there were more supporters around the track, but will absolutely do it next year.”
“Found the circuit to be a tough run but managed to set my fastest 10K run. Great run!!!”
“Race organisers made a very simple school boy error in deciding to go with cardboard bib numbers. I was running with the lead female runner. In the pit lane just after 5K her number fell off. She hesitated, stopped before turning around to pick it up again! This should have NEVER happened - bib numbers should NEVER fall off runners during a race! The start was also poorly organised. After the organisers had taken the trouble to separate the competitive runners, the remaining runners were brought up to the start line far too soon. By not holding them back behind the front runners with a rope until just before the start of the race many "non-runners" (I say non-runners since I saw one gentleman at the very front of the race with his chip strapped around his wrist rather than his ankle!) were able to squeeze pass the competitive runners up to the very front of the race. This of course lead to the inevitable accident at the start of the race. Considering the entrance fee paid a proper branded technical T-shirt could have been given.”
“More give-aways! And, the t-shirts are great!”
“Please get the decleration/waiver as an online form so to reduce time spent on the day.”
“On site registration a disaster, I saw two teams of 5 get so frustrated they left and went home, you need more than one pc...great venue though”
“Well organised and everything went smoothly, could have used smaller cups at watering stations, enjoyed the experience but didnt realise a race track had so many "hills"”
