“The best triathlon series in the UAE - also the only triathlon series in the UAE! I have competed in this race for the past two seasons, it has not developed since the first time I raced and some would argue it has actually regressed. Unlike several other events in the UAE there is little recognition for those who payed good money and put hard effort in to complete the race. Other races have T-shirts, bags, medals and goody bags for all finishers, these races also cost less to take part in and I also suspect the venues they are held in cost more. As the race sells out every time and so quickly it would appear that there is little motivation on the race organisers to improve the race. There is no marshalling at turn around points on course and hazards were still present in the water at the last race (ropes between bouys). Drafting is a big problem, with the event organisers only stating they will be giving penalties out but not actually policing or enforcing it. I suspect there would be a different set of results and times if these rules were enforced - albeit from the lone bike leaders. The route could be opened up and a full circuit be completed, I believe this would reduce drafting as the bunches would be spread out over 13km and not 6.5km. This would require more marshals and maybe even police support, easily done from a race that generates 40,000AED before the athletes enjoy their "favourite melt down breakfast" in the hotel - at an additional cost. There is also no timing system apart from a total finish time. This service could be contracted out or the technology be purchased which would greatly enhance the race. The best thing about the race is the race commentator - very enthusiastic from start to finish, a true credit to the event organisers. The event has potential to improve greatly - if only the organisers were as enthusiastic as the race commentator......”

“Come on guys police your race! Cheating was endemic on this one as you had no draft busters. Even among the 'elites' there was blatant cheating. I may ask the next over 40 podium to state categorically that they raced within the rules (while standing on the podium) ... as we all see what is going on, there will be egg not only on some established names' faces, but also the organisers. Also, please give us value for money... you take 40,000AED plus and give back, what?”

“Decent enough course and organisation okay, but it appears the organisers are more interested in making money than putting on a great event. AED 200 for what? Not even a race t shirt or medal, come on! Even the coke and bananas disappeared for this race. Shame on those who were drafting, especially the big group just behind the leaders on the bike. Why weren't they penalised? This could be a great series but isn't:)”

“Two cups of water for AED 200??? Whats the point of announcing drafting penalties at race briefing then not giving any, to the guy who drafted on my back wheel for the entire race, well done you got away with it. I will do it again because there is no alternative but I would like to know where the entrance fees are going”
