“Thanks to those that have taken time out to give comments and be sure that we are looking to make improvements where ever possible to give everybody the very best race experience possible. The course - For the April run and all subsequent runs, the course will be shortened by approximately 250 metres. This will give everyone a more 'true' 10km. As the course is fast and flat, this will give people the opportunity for a Personal Best time. Water stations - These will be modified to ensure that runners do not have to move away from the 'racing line' to get water. We will also provide the options of bottles as well as cups at stations. Giveaways - We have been very conscious in making the Dubai Desert Road Run a very inexpensive event. At 70dhs it is just not possible to give a quality running short to competitors at present - maybe this will change in time. We understand that one or two people assumed they were getting a t-shirt because their size was requested on the Premier Marathons registration - this is just part of Premier Marathons sign up, so that they have your data for other events that you may wish to enter. We hope that all of you continue to support the event.”
“OVERALL HAPPY with the event but it can be improved: 1) I didn't get timed; it was the first time running with a chip & nowhere it said that chip only works on shoe. 2) would prefer to have a 10k course, instead of 2x5km laps 3) Agree with water stations, to far off the race line & they should be on straights. Would prefer bottles instead of cups as well. Pls try to get a sponsor for (sml) water bottles. 4) I logged 10.65km for the course. Even if mine is off, it was at around 300m/400m above the 10k distance. It was great that Costa Coffee was offering reduce rate coffees/teas. Thanks to whoever was responsible for that. I'll try to do better next time...with the chip on my shoe.”
“would be great to create something special, like part of the course on the playing field or on the camel racetrack or a short part on sand...”
“had difficulty making payment with Visa card on web site. solved by using another card. suggest you add PayPal as payment option.”
“Great race and venue ,keep it going with more races through the summer and try and get a few sponsors for t shirts , medals and goodybags..Well done !”
“The track is a bit borring, but it is nice to see the other runners all the way through as there were almost no spectators at least you could see the other runners.”
“There was no T shirt of give aways. And according to my gps -and i heard the same comment from different people; the race was 10 k and 400 meters... ”
“Briefing was made so that you couldn't have heard anything. For the future, I suggest to use sound system. The participants MUST BE (which hasn't had place) informed that chip must be sticked to the shoe - otherwise it will not work. That's happened in my case... Except these 2 elements everything very possitive - recommend!”
“Was hoping for a little more desert but can't complain as the course was the flatest I have ever run! Plenty of drink stations, well organised and pleasant race to take part in. Great for first timers and experienced runners and a chance to grab a PB. Thanks to the organisers and marshals- such a smooth run for an inaugural race! No give aways but such a reasonable (a bargain) entry fee that nothing was expected. Maybe a banana or a chocolate bar at the finish?”
“Well done keep it up.”
“well organized at very good price. Good location to have such events. Duathlon could be an option too.”
“Change 2nd water station. Move it 1k further back and have it service both ways on the track”
“Thanks for organizing this event. 100% to everything except the course (I prefer to not run laps and wish the "desert" feeling was stronger - also, was this actually 10km + 350 meters??...), spectator support was good but is never 100% out in the UAE and t-shirts/giveaways were non-existent... BUT the race was only 70aed and I didn't expect there to be giveaways! I loved the event, loved the water station cheer team, COSTA coffee scored HUGE bonus points with subsidized prices, change rooms were great and the event started right on time! :) Thanks for a great event, will see you at the next Desert Road Run!”
“A good effort for the first event at the 7s, but a few things could have been better. - The water stations were too far back from the road (2nd one more than the first) so you had to run out of your way to get water. - the KM markers weren't that obvious - there wasn't much signage towards the start. On the plus side, great facilities, parking and it started on time, so it was a really good race on the whole. Will definitely be back!”
“I am not an elite runner and could see the moment I got there that I would be outclasses, however I was made to feel welcome and I will do the other two races in April & June and try and beat my time. Thank you for letting me take part.”
“This is my firs participation in such events. Good place for such races. You feel you are runing in the desert. Hope if much advertising & sponsering is performed more people will join like.”
“It was well organised - and it was only my 2nd run in the UAE - so i was impressed that I received a timing chip ! Also correspondence via email was excellent. Great officials as well. Hopefully it will get bigger as there was such a small turnout - so i look forward to next year! well done!”
“1. Prefer water bottles even if small, as compared to glasses. With bottles you can pace water intake. With cups very difficult to pace water intake. You take into much. It spills more. A little bit goes into your nostrils. 2. The water stations should have been even closer to the fastest turns. Or simply the water stations should have been on the straight parts of the road as compared to on the turns. 3. I really really think the 5th / 10th KM were longer and the 3rd / 8 km were shorter. ”
