“Overall it is very good event and i am very happy and will participate again. Thank you for your support. Regards, Faisal.”
“great event, made us proud ot be a part of it!”
“There was a distinct lack of energy giving foods such as fruit & energy drinks on route. Watering points only had warm water. Watering points closed down before the end of the run. What medal? Toilets few in number and not signposted. It was not clear where the halfway mark was.”
“One complaint - please check the course for dangerous obstacles to runners. I was running on the footpath along the course and tripped on some bolts sticking out of the footpath. I fell on the pavement and damaged my forearms and knees. Please do a thourough check of the course in the future to ensure hazards are properly marked.”
“ I enjoyed the race, thanks .”
“The event was a great success as it is every year. If there was one part of the event that was marred, it is perhaps the general organization of the event. Trying to find the correct counter to register was tricky, as various tables were spread across the parking lot. Those who registered online had to go the furthest to find their counter in a different section. The process of registering was also handled poorly. Donations were collected in unsecure cardboard boxes. Some counters did not even have a basic calculator for the staff to help with the collection of donations. No official receipts were issued for participants to show their sponsors proof of donation. Participants in the run were each given a laminated plastic sticker that simply identified the person as a runner. Those who had gone through the trouble to register as a team weren’t given any unique form of identification. Nowhere was team names displayed. Furthermore, the sticker’s adhesive would unglue due to the runner’s sweat or material of their clothes. There were hundreds scattered all along the route. The actual route, a little over 8 km, lacked markers to indicate the distance one has travelled. It was a minor issue for runners not committed to going the full-length of the route. With plenty of water stations along the route and ambulances on standby, the welfare of participants was certainly addressed. The disposal of garbage however, was not; runners simply tossed used cups and bottles in the nearby grass or sand, for lack of a better alternative. Granted the staff of the event was composed primarily of volunteers, the event organizers should have taken more steps to ensure the operation would have run more smoothly. We hope that the organizers take into account the feedback and improve for next year’s event. The charity event did boast a strong turnout, thousands participating from across cultures and age groups. The contributions from the annual event have helped to not only advance cancer research, but also spread awareness of the disease. After 17 years in Dubai, the Terry Fox Run has become a national event that local residents have come to look forward to every year. Written by ASP who was on MG's Team”
“Registration procedure, individuals: badly signed, crowded, away from the main pre-start events support stations: plenty but water in plastic cups is not practical and impossible not to spill while on the move Race giveaways: shame there were no caps, i heard many people asking about them Altogether it was loads of fun, thank you!”
“Race path was not well marked so everyone ended up doing 8.4km or turning back when they wanted”
“Very interesting story about Mr. Terry Fox and how his Marathon began.”
“It was a beautiful experience running with all of those people supporting this event. Thank God you are there for them... ”
“There were water stations all along the course, but when I really wanted water was at the end and I couldn't find any. PLEASE!! Give us water at the end! ”
“Need a replenishing station at half-way mark. Dubai Police opened roads too early, before end of race! More water required at end of race. Should have more music/entertainment throughout the race at various stages of the race.”
“Participating in this event brings the families as one to support the terry fox run.. it was a very memorable run for my family.. we will surely join again next year.. God bless”
“I would take part in this event again for the cause and to be with friends. I had gone with the impression that is was a running event but the vast majority were walkers. It was hard to get momentum. ”

“We need to have more such races in Dubai. Try increasing the frequency of the races. ”
“I really like this event. all the people, the crowd also the organization you done a great jobs. you make people in dubai on that day very excited and happy =) thank you and more power to your organization.. i hope to you u again next year ok.. God bless you all. ”
“Organizing was good, we registered online in the last day, but our names were not in list. The water stands in the race distance could be provided with coolers so the waters stays cold.”
“Finish line was not obvious. What a downer psychologically. Here's an idea: How about selling some higher quality shirts at this event next time around? I would be more likely to purchase a high quality, long sleeve shirt with some sophisticated graphics on it. I did not purchase the blue t-shirt that was available at the race because it was kind of cheesy looking. Sorry, but that’s how it looked to me and to the other members of my group who didn’t buy one either.”
“This is really a proud moment for me that my small effort and a small donation will become a support to the Cancer research. Really the organisers are deserve the full credit of this successful event. The open hearted mind of such organisers will help to support the world in discovering good medicines for the killer desease Cancer. I love to become a volunteer of such events.. I assure my full support to all of such future events. I am a 10th grade student of Delhi Private school, Sharjah. I really enjoyed..”
“Well organised. Not many spectators - because everyone is taking part. You get a certificate rather than a medal - but as this is for charity the certificate was a nice surprise! Only negative was that we had planned to do the short course but we ended doing the full course as there were no signs. Would still encourage everyone to participate.”
“The organisation was quite good but they should've banned cars from parking where we were running because when people finished the race, they tried to get out but people were still running.”
“Just go with the flow.... I used to be very hyper active and always involve myself in organized physical activities when I was a younger age. I do appreciate the effort of the organizers and their dedication to serve.... that's why until now I still keep on running.... happy running to everyone and keep your cool....”
“It got a bit hot starting at 9:30. A 9:00 start would be better (if possible)”
“TWO THUMBS UP FOR THE ORGANIZERS!!!!”
“Dear team A well done work, i enjoyed everybit of this event, I love running for this cause. and will always take part. This my third year that i have taken part in. My first two events were in my school days and after 6 yers i have participated again. God bless you for organising such a beautiful event. ”
“Car were allowed on the road before runners finished. Not a good idea with young children participating. Police opened road too early!! Wont be taking my young children if i bother next year.”
“I understand this is for a good cause, and it was a great course, however, there were supposed to be options for 3 courses, this did not exist, and there were runners leaving at the same time as the walkers which caused major confusion at the start. Good race, I might be back. Its for a good cause!”
“You should have put a giant chronometer. Great job ”
“Very well organized.kept up the good work!”
“Perfectly Great”
“I did enjoy the run but I found that the start was too late. I would of perfered that we started an hour earlier, 830 instead of 930. It gets warm rather quickly. ”
“It was my first time to join a marathon and it was really a great feeling to be part of this event. My friends and I had finished the run and what inspired us most was the theme "Working together to outrun Cancer". The steps we had on the run were dedicated to every cancer patient, survivors, & for the families who had lost one. In the future events, me and my friends will together finish the RUN to give our heartfelt support.”
“Excellent support, well organized by volenteers and also good entertainment. However i prefer it to be just run next time. Not cycles, wheelers it can be dangerous. However Overall it was fun. ”
“I have run both the standard chartered Dubai marathon (10km) and the 8.5km Terry Fox run. Apart from the larger village / goody bag / t-shirt / live timing, everything else was far superior at the Terry Fox run. Great atmosphere and lovely experience.”
“The best thing...the ambient, the people, the show. I'm proud because I finish the race, everything was good.”
“COOL”
“I liked the warm up... Love the caps but can't purchase.. T-shirt sizes are huge... More entertainment is expected next year.. Finish line is not clearly mark.. Cars park along the route should not be allowed next time, those who finish first starts their engines and drive along the route even other runners are still running.. the smoke of their cars sucks those runners hardly tying to finish the run.. ”
“We were just 15 min late and by the time we have finished entire 8.4 Km and returned to the booth, no one was left to issue even certificates. They could have told official ending time to come back with in this time. Even volunteers are leaving from the water stations by 11 AM and we are not sure whether to continue or return back. But overall it is fun but missed the T shirt as well.”
“This is a best way to help others & help self health.”
“Water should be in bottles, not those foil cups as it takes time to open them & you can't walk fast drinking out of them, let alone run! There is a specialised track which is easy on the joints on the return, but most people were still on the road - this track should be used for health & safety reasons. An ice cream truck was selling their wares instead of giving them away like the other generous sponsors”
“Very Good”
“Wonderful way to get together with friends and spend a while together for a worthy cause.. ”
“Provide water at the FINISH line. I finished the race and no water was there. Mark the km in the race or at least have a sign saying the half way point.”
“The police opened the roads a bit to soon to motorists. ”
“Race should start earlier in morning”
“It could start at 9:00 because it was really hot by 9:30. Also, the race markers could be clearer specifically the finish line which I had to ask to find But the atmosphere was great and it was a really positive experieince overall”
