“great race and so enjoyable. However much of the course/road was under construction which meant uneven ground to run on. Can't help but think this contributed to the Tibia Fracture i obtained. I finished with a good time for my first half marathon. ”
“I had always been a fan of RAK Half Marathon for the quality of the race and organization. It kept getting better each year. ”
“Much better organised than Standard Chartered Marathon; the sandstorm was a bit of a challenge but then overall very satisfied-- will participate again”
“Well done for the slick organization, but next year switch off the wind machine! :-)”
“Website was missing the events date, and 3 months before the date is it is hard to calculate according to the time that is left. Please include the exact date next time, as well as information for spectators and competitors when should they be and where. Also, finding the photo according to bib offers only one poor shot. Maybe if I could see a gallery I could have recognized myself in some of the photos where the machine didn't pick up my number? Thanks!”
“Another fantastic-ally organised RAK Half! They keep getting better!”
“Very well organized event. Printing certificate was very easy and quick. thanks”
“There could be more photograhers along the course. The photos accross the finish line are not that individual, poor focus and not a good momento.”
“As always, excellent organisation. The pre-race mailers are the best - you guys think of every detail. Amazing project management work. Loved the bean bags at the finish. Whatever happened to the medals this time - they've lost the old unique design and become a standard round shape. And boy, have they shrunk in size!!!! C'mon guys, this is the premier-most race in the region. the medal too muct stand out like everything else. Can we please have net split times on the certificates rather than gross? Great race shirts from Adidas. ”
“2 very big complaints: there were some spectators as well as some runners smoking in the start and finish area, which is unacceptable for an international sports event. smoking should be banned completely anywhere near the race course there were no vegetarian snacks available prior to the start of the race, just meat based junk food everything was perfect, I especially liked the countdown and the kilometre markers.”
“Very well organised race! Would be nice if a 10km event may be included for 2013.”
“Great race in spite of windy road conditions. ”
“Thank you for a great race, very well organized and will definitely be back next year! good course with excellent water points etc..Thanks alot!”
“It was hard to get to the finish line after running first leg in the Team challenge....the bus left ok, to get back to start/finish line, but then there was really no way to get to the stand to see finishers cross the line so we could cheer on fellow runners Really enjoyed the whole event, will definitely be back next year!!”
“I enjoyed the race even though the weather and conditions weren't great. I wish that the starting area could have been a little more comfortable than a dirt lot as there was limited seating area. It would be nice to finish on grass or in a park so we could at least sit down and stretch properly after the race. Otherwise, I had a blast and thoroughly enjoyed the race!”
“WELL DONE TO THE ORGANIZERS! SEE YOU NEXT YEAR.”
“Its a shame that the time shown on the results website is your gross time... it took me 2 mins to get through the start and so my net time was 2 mins faster. The event organisation was superb but i think the route is very boring! x”
“Should be more medical stations on route and perhaps a set of buses to return runners to the various hotels around RAK.”
“Very well organized race. I found it in particular good that also slower runners still could get Gatorade at the stations, I made other experiences in other races. ”
“There is no prize to the old people 55+. We need to encourage old people to participate in this well organize event”

“Well organised and good crowd. ”
“I liked the course other than the turn around area at the top of the dog leg near the RAK Hospital. I had concerns as I was running so slowly I could see the loose stones and debris on the road but knowing the top runners they would not generally be looking downwards and some of the stones were big enough to injure an athlete running at speed. I felt the start was good enough for the size of the event but if this event does grow there will be a need to set time categories in the starting pen. I found the music near the RAK very good and maybe having a number of points with music etc. could be motivational for the slower runners and bring in additional spectators to make it a fun day for them.”
“Very well organized. I have done them all at RAK and I am always happy. There are many walkers on the course which keeps us motivated when the runners are well past us. I used the showers this time and they were of high standards considering they were portable and open to public - clean with shampoo and hot water. A BIG Thank you for all the organizers and the volunteers.”
“Orrganisation is second to none. Your Facebook page is informative and you take time to respond to everyone. The course is peaceful and beautiful... Great event, really !”
“This was my first Half Marathon and I really enjoyed the experience - many thanks”
“Thank you very much........”
“Race was great, and really enjoyed it. Would love to have had more timers at different km markers to keep pace!”
“Support for the slower participants was non existant, this was very disheartening. We read that the cut off time was 4hours, however the distance markers were being taken down well before then, the commentator had left after 3hours 15mins, no bananas and no dates were available as they were to those coming in at 3hours. If a cut off time is given, please keep to it. No matter what the time is, it's the taking part that matters regardless of age or fitness level. Last year I took part in the relay and this was my first time doing the half, next year I'll go back to doing the 5kms. ”
“Hats off felt at home though this is my first time participation and my first half marathon. No words would love to be a part of it Cheers to all the support from volunteers marshals and backoffice Website update and mails were very helpfull for people like us firs timers Enjoyed the event with Pain as temporary factors Cheeers ”
“By far, the best racing event in the UAE in terms of organisation, from registration to finish line. Everything was done professionally. Will be back again and again.”
“Follow up emails before the race with tips and information were very useful. A lot of relevant information is shared prior to the race which makes it easier when you are traveling from another country. Race pack delivery was on time (UPS did a great job) and the give aways sponsored by Adidas were high quality. Organization at the race day / water stops and toilets was fantastic. ”
“It was my first time running the RAK half marathon. I was very impressed by how well organised it was. The support was incredible - drink stations and drink choices were regular. The distances were very clearly marked - a welcome rainbow of balloons at each kilometre. The volunteers were very helpful. Toilets etc were convenient, very clean and not crowded. The radio announcer at the start/finish line and crowd support made the running fun and kept me motivated. There were no unwanted onlookers, just genuine supporters and the police and official staff were professional and impressive. Thanks RAK. I will be back!”
“For the team relay there needs to be a specific transition area inbetween 2 timing pads so team members can have more accurate times and less confusion while trying to find and hand over to your team member. Overall a fantastic race and I will be back next year.”
“Just a suggestion to offer drinks in bottles with "sports caps/spouts" as it is difficult to drink from cups or bottles with wide necks whilst running. Timing sent via SMS and published should reflect actual time run and not Gross time for true reflection of result. The UPS delivery of runner's pack was fantastic! The contents of the pack was also great! My First RAK Half Marathon, and definitely not my last! Thank you!”
“Certain sections of the road surface were in extremely poor condition.”
“The toilets at the 12.5km on the right were discusting (rear end mess everywhere with the smell) and caused me to vomit for a few minutes before I was able to continue. I was in good time to meet my target time until this unfortunate event! Apart from this I enjoyed the run run and have met some new friends! ”
“The event was great”
“Well done - I only did the relay but the overall experience was fantastic, loads of fun and super organised! I look forward to next year. Thank you. Keep it up.”
“Had a great time overall in the race, first 10k the route was fabulous, but things got a bit bleak between 11-18k in terms of the track and environment. Overall though had a blast as a first-time half marathoner and will be back next year!”
“Each time I participate the race gets better and better!! There were plenty of water stations which was great. It did seem as if the gatorade ran out before I got to it but overall great!! I did not use the website which is why it has such a low rating but I had to rate it to continue!!”
“The race is well organised. No panicking at the last minute to get chips or numbers made the mornings preparations painless. The start chute is narrow and there is no estimated time markers which always creates more problems/congestion for the first 1km than there needs to be. It was great to see people out on the street cheering the runners on. Sections of the race had a fantastic atmosphere. The drink stations came along very quickly.”
“Shame about the weather, otherwise it could be perfect. Also the village was dead quiet on the eve before the race. Lack of atmosphere”
“Around the 11 K the road surface is not good. It seems to slant into the central reservation and I could feel my left hip starting to protest. Also at the same place my friend said her knee started to hurt. I thnk it maybe a good idea to reroute to avoid this area totally. ”
“The race needs more support stations. Bottles of water and gatorade make it difficult to run and drink and also most of us were only taking a few sips from the bottle. It is a waste to have bottles maybe next time you can just use plastic cups. I would like more music throughout the track to keep the atmosphere alive and exciting.”
